Geshtinanna

Geshtinanna
   A minor Sumerian goddess associated with vineyards and sheep. In mythology, she was also the sister of Dumuzi, male consort of the love goddess Inanna. After Dumuzi was consigned to spend half of each year in the Land of No Return (the Underworld), in rotation with Inanna, Geshti-nanna was also forced to alternate with her brother and spend half of each year beneath the ground. It was said that while in the Underworld Geshtinanna married the god Ningishzida, grandson of Ereshki-gal, ruler of the Underworld, and worked as a scribe.
